Screen Print vs. Embroidery

Sometimes our customers are not sure if they should go with screen-print or embroidery.

Surprisingly, there are some things to think about:

• Where will you be wearing the shirts? Will you be wearing them doing yard work or at a convention?
• What is the image you are going for? Do you want to look a little bit more professional with embroidery or do you want to go for more of a “team” look with the screen-print?
• How many will you need? Less than two dozen or over 6 dozen?
• How many colors are in the design?
• What is your budget?
• Will you be making repeat orders?
• How many locations will there be? Do you want logo, web page, tag line, etc to also be included but in different locations on the shirt?
• Do you want something really big across the entire shirt?

Testimonial - Kristie's Kreations Table Covering

Here is testimonial that I received from one of our happy customers in regards to their table covering. This just proves how great these table coverings are!

Our tablecloth has been used many times now and I must say, it still looks brand new! The tablecloth drapes just right and has looked good on what ever table we have had to use. It has been laundered by me and washes just beautifully. The color has remained vibrant, and the coffee stains wash right out. My biggest challenge is to fold it by myself. The stitching is awesome and the way you saved us money, by adding the navy fabric background, has worked really well. No one even notices that the background is not stitched. LANtech, and I have been very pleased with this product. We highly recommend not only this table covering, but your great customer service, and definitely your embroidery!

Are you thinking about Table Covers for your Trade Show?

In the last month or so, I have received many requests for information, as well as orders, for table coverings. Last year I posted several blogs about table coverings. I think it is appropriate to republish these. . . . Are you thinking about having a booth at a trade show?

Are you signed up for a booth at a trade show and you are wondering. . . Now What?

If you answered Yes to either of these questions then I can help!

There are two very important things to consider. What will my display look like and What will I pass out? For this post we begin to discuss what your table will look like. You will have more visitors to your booth if it looks nice and stands out especially from a distance.

Once noticed, customers will walk across the room to see what you have to offer if it looks good! The first way to assure this is by having a logoed table covering.

There are several options out there for table coverings but we have found one that we really like! These table coverings look good no matter what size table you are putting it on. The logo always embroiders very nicely on the material as well.

You might be thinking that the embroidery would be really expensive for a table covering. Well, the answer is that it is more expensive than a left chest design, but it is well worth it! The look and detail in the design is phenomenal! There are times when we can also help to reduce the number of stitches in the design. More information on this to come. Please check back.

Many locations will require that the table coverings be fire retardant. If this is your case then you are in luck! These table coverings are fire retardant and will fulfill this requirement.

Have you realized how important the table covering is for the trade show? If so, read the next post for more information!

More Bamboo Organic Materials

Before I talked about the aspects of bamboo. Now, I want to give you some more information about Bamboo and other products made with bamboo. Although bamboo has some wonderful aspects, there are organic options other than 100% bamboo. Bamboo can be combined with other fibers to create blends. Just as there are polyester and cotton blends, there are also bamboo blends available.

Apparel can be made of a combination of bamboo and one or more of the following: polyester, organic cotton, soy and Spandex. These are also called hybrid products. The great thing about these styles are they are often offered at a lower price point with eco-friendly aspect.

The shirt to the right is a tee shirt that is 57% bamboo/ lyocell/38% cotton/5% spandex ladies’ long sleeve jersey t-shirt. StretchFlex™ technology provides comfort and freedom of movement. Natural inherent properties wick moisture and are naturally anti-bacterial, hypoallergenic and breathable

Some items are 85% bamboo/15% soy which is extremely good for sensitive skin. It refreshes the amino acids on the skin. Loungeware is extremely popular in eco-friendly products. One of these is made of Micro Terry. Micro Terry is a blend of bamboo, polyester, cotton and Spandex, which has the same soft feel and moisture-wicking aspects

Some of the down sides of Bamboo products:
-Everyday care is more difficult
-Some do not like how stretchy the material can be. Stretchiness is determined by the amount of Spandex in the fabric
-It peels easily
-It breaks down sooner than other fabric combinations
-It takes longer to dry
-Material breaks down quicker
-Bamboo also takes longer to dry than other apparel
-Can have greater shrinkage than other fabrics
-Not good for sport jerseys

Recommended Laundering for Bamboo materials:
Use a gentle washing machine cycle with cold or lukewarm water. Line dry instead of putting it in the dryer.

Bamboo Clothing

Recently I have had more requests for organic or bamboo items. Since I have not had many requests for organic, I started to do some research. Most have at least heard of bamboo items and when asked will tell you that they are an eco-friendly fabric. This is true but what I learned is that the manufacturing process is not.

Bamboo is a plant or a grass instead of a tree. It is eco-friendly because it grows rapidly and does not need the help of chemicals. In fact, it reaches maturity quickly and does not require to replanting because it continuously resprouts. In about four years it reaches maturity and is ready to be harvested. There is no need for pesticides or fertilizers.

Another great thing about bamboo is that it helps the air. It extracts carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and releases 25% more oxygen than other crops or forests. It can grow from 24 inches to 26 inches in a single day. It doesn't require all the pesticides that cotton does nor does it require very much water.

The problem with bamboo is in the production. In order to make the fibers of the bamboo into something that can be used in clothing then they have to use a lot of chemicals. There is dyeing and the finishing of the bamboo that has the largest impact on the environment. It is suggested that the water be treated and recycling the chemicals to make the bamboo product eco friendly but this rarely happens. In fact, some say it never happens. There is a company that uses nano-particles of bamboo charcoal that doesn’t use dyes or bleaches during the process.

So why Bamboo?

Well, first of all it is very natural. It naturally wicks moisture away from your body, helps with perspiration, wrinkle resistant and is softer than cotton. I personally think it feels like silk. Bamboo has natural antimicrobial and antifungal properties and is 100% biodegradable. What does this mean? Well basically you won’t smell when you sweat.

Are you looking for something a little bit different and new? Are you a ‘green’ company and are looking for new apparel. Bamboo might be for you. Contact me if you would like to see a sample!

Holiday Gifts - Picture Woven

Many times I have talked about the Picture Weave items. Becuase they have been so popular with our clients and they have all loved them I thought I would talk about them again.

For those of you that do not know what I am talking about check out this testimonial from Scott Seibert! Doesn’t it look like his dogs are sitting on the couch? The blankets are unbelievable with the detail they are able to show. They have been a huge hit ever since I started providing them to customers!

The best thing about these throws, purses, totes and wall hangings is that the picture is actually woven into the product, not printed on it like most other options. I can also over the printed products to my customers but when I found these I decided that there was not contest! These are 100 times better!! If you are interested in seeing on in person, contact me and I am more than happy to show you one. Here are some pictures to you have an idea on what I am talking about.

If you really like monograms but are up for something new or do not really want embroider then check out these new options!

Remember, these items are woven and not printed so they take longer to produce. If you are thinking about doing something like this for Holiday Gifts, give yourself 4 weeks! They do not always take that long but make sure you leave yourself enough time so they are not a late gift!
